Paper fans

Today is a cloudy day, but it is hot! We are in the house because it is threatening to rain, but with it being so warm we have the fans going. That gave me an idea. We made paper fans!

First I cut some paper, got the markers, popsicle sticks and tape.

The kids first coloured on their piece of paper.

After they were done with their artwork, we folded the paper, accordion style.

Then, we taped the bottom together and taped on two popsicle sticks. One on either side. (I also added a piece of tape at the bottom of the sticks to keep them together too!

And now we have a personal paper fan!

Day 14 of 25 days of Christmas Crafts

Today, we were going to make reindeer hats, but when I took the two older kids to preschool, they were doing reindeer hats there. So, I came home to see what else I could come up with. I finally figured out that we could do rudolph the same way we did frosty earlier- with popsicle sticks!

So, I got things ready, cutting shapes for mouths, ears, antlers and hair. Gluing some popsicle sticks together (I put one across the back- and then we glued the ears there). I got googly eyes and a pom pom for the nose. Then, I cut some string, and got each child a bell.

Then, we started gluing things on. The ears, hair, antlers, nose, mouth, and eyes etc.

After everything was glued on, we strung the bell, and attached it to the bottom with tape.
We are going to add a ribbon so it can be an ornament too!

Day 1 of 25 days of Christmas crafts

Here we go! Today is the start of our 25 days of Christmas crafts. Since we are starting early, I am starting with the not so Christmasy- more wintery type of crafts.

Today we made Frosty the snowman with popsicle sticks, paint, goggly eyes, a paper carrot nose, markers and glue.

I got the popsicle sticks ready, with help from Danika! We lined up 8 popsicle sticks and then glued the "brim" one on. (turns out the glue I had wasn't the greatest, so we also taped along the back.

We talked about snowmen, and Frosty, as I explained that on top of the "brim" was the hat, so that and on top should be the black. Then we talked about what colour snowmen are, and that should be the bottom.

After the kids all painted theirs (some are more grey with the mixing of colours!), we glued on the goggly eyes, and the carrot nose. Once they are completely dry, we will draw on the mouth with markers.
We are going to modge podge ours and use them as coasters! Great Christmas present!
